It is celebrated on June 2 each year, and commemorates the birth of the Italian Republic in 1946. Italy was not always a republic. It was originally a monarchy, ruled by the House of Savoy. However, after World War II, a referendum was held to decide whether Italy should remain a monarchy or become a republic. The majority of voters chose to become a republic, and June 2 was declared a national holiday to commemorate this event. On Republic Day, there are many celebrations held throughout Italy. These include parades, military displays, and public festivities. The main celebration takes place in Rome, where there is a large parade that starts at the Altare della Patria (Altar of the Fatherland) and ends at the Piazza Venezia. Republic Day is a public holiday in Italy, so most businesses and schools are closed. It is a day for Italians to celebrate their country and its democratic institutions. ⪢ Driving In Italy, drivers drive on the right side of the road. The speed limits are generally lower than in other countries, with a speed limit of 130 kilometers per hour (81 miles per hour) on highways and 50 kilometers per hour (31 miles per hour) in built-up areas. Drivers should be aware of narrow roads and give way to pedestrians and cyclists, who have the right of way. Drivers should also be aware of the traffic signs, which are similar to those in other countries but may have some differences. ⪢ Tipping Tipping culture in Italy is not as strong as in other countries. Tipping is not expected in general, but it is appreciated if you do leave a tip for good service. In restaurants, if you do want to tip, 10-15% of the bill is fine. Just do check if a service fee has already been included. You can round up the bill or leave the change as a tip. In bars, it is not customary to tip. However, you can leave a small tip if you feel the service was good. Note that for taxi drivers, it is customary to round up the fare or leave a tip of a few euros and for tour guides, it is customary to leave a tip of 10-15% of the tour price. ⪢ Connectivity Overall, connectivity in Italy is very good, and you should be able to stay connected easily while you are there. 5g is widely available in most major cities, and cell reception / WiFi is good and stable in most rural areas. Buy a local SIM card: If you are staying in Italy for more than a few days, it is a good idea to buy a local SIM card. This will give you a local number and you will be able to get better deals on data and calls. TIM : TIM is another major mobile operator in Italy, and it also offers a wide range of plans. Wind Tre : Wind Tre is a smaller mobile operator in Italy, but it offers some very competitive plans. Use public Wi-Fi: There is free Wi-Fi available in many public places in Italy, such as airports, train stations, and cafes. However, be aware that public Wi-Fi can be insecure, so you should only use it for browsing the web and not for anything that requires sensitive information, such as online banking or shopping. Use a VPN: If you are concerned about security, you can use a VPN when you are connected to public Wi-Fi. The grounds included a lovely walking path, two outdoor swimming pools, playpark for children, enclosed dog park, a gathering area, outdoor BBQ area, soccer field, outdoor ping pong table along with an outdoor gym. The unit included private washer and dryer, 2 full bathrooms and bedrooms with ample storage and everything you need. High speed internet was included as well. There were limited starter supplies in the kitchen however (no salt, sugar, oil etc) Water and electricity (for long stays) are extra however it was extremely reasonable for the month. The hotel zone was a 10 minute Uber ride away (more on that adventure next video). We loved the location and accommodation. We would definitely return in the future! With amazing sushi, lobster, fish and seafood risotto we were given first class treatment during this epic night out. The drum bongo and dancing show was so fun along with the fountain sparklers who doesn't love a good sparkler! It always sets the mood. We enjoyed hookah, tequila, wine and brandy nut don't worry the evening was spread out over 8 hours for us ha! Finishing the evening off with fireworks and dancing all while enjoying the beautiful view. The management and staff are highly attentive and very entertaining. They took very good care of us. In this day tour from Seoul we learn about the history and ongoing conflict between the 2 sides and look into the illusion that is presented as North Korea. We also visit the infamous third tunnel. The DMZ serves as a reminder that the desire for reunification continues to flicker, waiting for the right conditions to reignite. While it might evoke a sense of sadness and frustration, it ultimately encourages reflection and hope. It certainly made us far more aware of the human cost of conflict, the power of resilience, and the enduring desire for a peaceful and unified future for the Korean people. Sadly, the tensions between the two countries are at an all-time high. There is every chance that the DMZ may once again become the epicenter of another major conflict, and this might just be the last chance you may have to visit it. Introduction Photo Gallery Traveling in Asia Discover Interesting Facts Latest Posts YouTube Our Story About Closer Lives All about Asia: A comprehensive guide Our first ever visit to the Asian continent began in December 2022 with a week in Japan, before going to Thailand for Christmas. We did not expect to spend a year in Asia, but we loved our experience so much that we ended up visiting 12 countries throughout 2023! We used Chiang Mai as a base to explore most of the south-east, the likes of Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia, before spending the later part of the year checking out the more central and northern areas, with Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea and even China making our list. It was perhaps quite apt that we finished the year back in Japan, before we heading back home for Christmas. It was an epic year, which also included several stays in one of our favorite countries, the Philippines, and even 3 weeks in India! A little bit of history mixed a little bit of mystery...(or A LOT)" - Me "We've made a grave mistake in our humanity by continuing to place such emphasis on finding the answers when the journey is truly about the questions... the questions we seek determine the revelations we find unless of course we get redirected by the divine." -Me "I believe strongly in the power of the pen in the healing properties of the written word and I strongly encourage everyone to discover what is truly being held with in by allowing it a way to release and reactivate our passion and purpose, the very codes in our DNA, this is best found through artist display... writing, dance, freedom and play... take my hand I'll show you the way" -Me I've spent much of my life seeking, learning, acquiring, questioning, experiencing and knowing I will be writing teaching and sharing this knowledge and passion... GETTING PREPARED for the right time... however I've spent a long season beyond reason in 'getting prepared'... but as most things have taught me in life... its not all about preparedness it's about trust, action and taking a leap of faith that reaps the biggest rewards... I share my life, my story, my adventures and teachings in hopes to help inspire others to do the same. I am in the process of completing my first non poetry book that will have an associated course program for those interested. It is all of the principles, practices, knowledge and experience that has led me down the journey of life that I've followed. These are the steps and actions I've taken that I believe have led me to have a powerful, impactful, beautiful, magical and poetic life through making bold moves and living life courageously despite the many adversities and challenges I've also had to endure. The quote that has always and forever stood out to me is 'Be ashamed to die until you win a victory for humanity' - Horace Mann. To some this may sound arrogant or lofty... however whatever this may be for me this is indeed part of my destiny.
