Is a Human Actually Reviewing Your Instagram Appeal?

It's one of the biggest questions people have after their Instagram account is disabled:
"Is an actual person looking at my case, or is everything being decided by AI?"
The answer is more nuanced than either extreme.
Meta is increasingly using AI across Instagram to help with support, account recovery, and content enforcement. Its systems can identify problems, provide support options, and help make enforcement more accurate.
But that does not mean humans have disappeared from the process.
Meta says people continue to play an important role in its most complex and high-impact decisions, specifically naming appeals of account disablement as an example.
So it is better to think of the current system as a combination:
🤖 AI and automated systems can help detect issues, process information and support decisions.
👤 Human judgement continues to be involved in critical cases and appeals.
That also means seeing AI mentioned during the support process doesn't automatically mean your appeal is simply being rejected or approved by a bot.
Meta says its recent investments have reduced enforcement mistakes and made eligible appeals faster and easier, although that obviously doesn't guarantee any individual account will be restored.
